DeleteCasa Barbi was located at 1277 Comm. Ave. in Allston. It was Our House(West) from 1975 until 2011 when it became Jalapeno's briefly, then the Shanghai Social Club and is now Hopewell Bar & Kitchen.

DeleteWhat an awesome and memorable list! I would add The 57 Restaurant at the old Radisson on Stuart Street. It had such a simple elegance. And add the old school charm & elegance of Sam's Beef & Ale a little further down where the Wang is now. Those were 2 of my favorites in the 80's & early 90's
DeleteMy dad used to take us to the Scotch & Sirloin in the 70's for those times we wanted to celebrate with a fancy dinner. Always great food, great service, and a great view! One time we took some friends with us and, because of religious beliefs, they couldn't eat their meat anything less than well done. The female friend ordered Prime Rib, never having had it before and had no idea how it is served. Poor girl had no idea why she kept getting underdone meat. She sent it back 3 times until they had basically burned it! The waiter told us that the chef was fit to be tied. I think the chef himself might have even come to our table to find out what was the issue. It was the talk of our family for years afterwards!
